Therefore, it’s important to know SEO myths so if there are any misconceptions in your mind, they can be clarified and you can focus on those methods which actually work and provide any useful results. Here are top four SEO myths you should know:
1) Meta Tags Are Important
Once upon a time, Meta tags or Meta keywords were quite important that without using those ranking offer your web pages used to be pretty difficult. But that is the story of old times, remember how it mentions ‘once upon a time’? So, what happened was like every other thing in the world its time came to an end and it passed away which was also confirmed by Google. Therefore, folks Meta tags are dead, it’s about time you leave them alone and let them rest in peace. They don’t matter anymore and using them will not in any way improve your rankings. Focus more on quality contents and quality back links.
2) Keyword Density doesn’t Matter
If we were talking about humans returning search queries on Google or other search engines it might have been somewhat or somehow true. But, thinking about how the search engines work based on different algorithms it seems quite logical that while returning the results the relevancy of the content is measured based on the use of keywords. Many people completely shun this idea, proposing to write only high quality content that adds value to users’ experience. However, using any one of the techniques might not be a good choice but using both of them will surely turn out in your favor. So, yes keyword density does matter but maybe 1-2 times repeating the keywords will do. Get a friend to read it and make the articles sound natural.
3) SEO might Die Soon
If you really believe it then you seriously should consider catching up with the latest SEO trends and techniques. There are a lot of changes and updates that are rolled out every year by Google and other search engines and advancements in the field of SEO to provide users with the best possible results that are entirely useful to them as a result it doesn’t seem that SEO would end anytime soon. As long as Google is out there and the internet is alive, SEO will also live. Therefore, SEO is important and it will not die just like this rather it will become more and more integral part of the internet over the time.
4) Keyword Rich Domains Are Ranked High
While it is true that domains laden with keywords will have some ‘little’ advantage but it seems to fade away very quickly. In fact, brand-able names like Google, Yahoo, Reddit, Facebook, Digg, Twitter and Bing don’t contain the keywords in their domain names yet they are quite highly ranked and it might take years and years to even come close to them. In simple words, it doesn’t really make much difference.
These are just top 4 SEO myths you should know about but there are many many more to know.
Good to know that meta tags are dead. I’ve been wondering about that for a while now. Some sources are telling me to use them while others say to not bother. I won’t waste my time!
Hi Mark,
Even Matt Cutts did mention not to focus on meta tags, but its no harm adding.
For our websites, we are still adding meta tags in our posts.
You make a good point about keyword rich domains. My own domain isn’t rich in keywords, so I have worried about whether or not it would rank well. I’m happy to know that it doesn’t really matter all that much.
Spend your time on QUALITY contents and QUALITY backlinks.
That will be the key to SEO.
